One of the questions I hear most often from other Intuitives is:
“How do I connect to my intuition when I’m anxious or overwhelmed?”
The truth? It takes practice. And sometimes, practice happens right in the middle of a big challenge.

For me, that moment came during a cross-country move from Portland to Indiana, while also flying back and forth to South Carolina to care for my mother. She was in and out of hospitals, often admitted for sudden collapses and alarming behavior—swearing, punching hospital staff, and leaping out of her hospital bed. Every night, a new physician would come up with a completely different plan of care. This went on for months! Nothing was consistent, and everything felt impossible.
I remember sitting in a hotel parking lot one evening, hands gripping the steering wheel, raging at the hospital and the medical system. My chest was tight, my mind racing: I can’t do this anymore! I don't know what to do! This is suffering!
And then, I asked for help from my Spirit Team of guides, angels, my higher self, and Source itself. I asked that this situation not only resolve but that I grow spiritually through it.
It was a big ask!
Almost instantly, I felt relief wash over me, followed by a clear download that reminded me: You can't fight and find peace at the same time. If you want peace, see the hospital staff as part of your team.
At first, I resisted. I didn’t feel like we were on the same team—I still felt angry and wanted to blame them. But I realized my anger was blocking me from hearing my intuition and also feeling the very peace I was seeking.
So, I asked myself: Which is more important— staying mad and thinking I was right, or feeling at peace?
I chose peace.
When I asked my intuition what to do next, I heard: Make a report —but remember you're on the same team as the hospital and say, 'We,' instead of 'I or you.'
Ask: "What can we do? How can we make this right—together?”
That simple shift changed everything. I filed a formal complaint. Unlike before, the overseers of the hospital really heard me! They worked with me to transform my mother's plan and she was eventually transferred to another hospital where she received the kind of care I'd hoped for her.
And, I woke up more spiritually.
This experience helped me to understand from all parts of me that we're not meant to do this work alone and that we're all part of a greater network and team in both the physical and spiritual realms.
The take-home message: If you’re going through a hard time, you are not alone. Yes, by all means, feel your feelings, but if you feel mired in them, that's when you might need some extra support.
Know that intuition is felt or heard when we're not thinking or analyzing with our minds.
It's actually there all the time!
Our guides, angels, higher self, and Source can often see answers that our human minds can't begin to fathom.
They are ready to help—if you ask.
So: Just Ask.
And if you’d like the live version, here’s a video I recorded on this very experience.
