Resting in Not Knowing

Where intuition begins to speak

When I was making the leap from psychology into my next iteration (which eventually became guiding sensitive, intuitive people and founding the Sensitive & Strong Meetup back in 2015), I was scared.

Truly.

I loved being a psychologist. It was meaningful. Sacred. And yet, I knew I needed a shift.

What I didn’t know… was what came next.

I felt cracked open and burned out!

After a Reiki attunement, my intuitive and psychic abilities grew quickly.

I began reading past lives during sessions.

I foresaw that my parents’ dog, Joey, had stomach cancer nearly nine months before his diagnosis — I could see a small mass in his belly. I saw spirits.

I received messages from clients’ loved ones.

And I began receiving inspired insights and practices that I would later teach.

It was real.

And it was a lot.

I actually saw a therapist who specialized in helping people who were psychic balance these abilities while staying grounded! My intuition told me who to choose as my therapist because she didn't say this on her website! 🤣

From her and from my many teachers and my own intuition and Spirit Team, I learned how to stay grounded in my body while accessing expanded states. I had to develop boundaries — energetic and practical — so my gifts didn’t overrun my nervous system.

It was energizing and overwhelming.

My life felt like it was moving too slowly and too fast at the same time. I felt like too much… and not enough.

One of the books I carried everywhere during that season was Coming Home: The Return to True Self by Martia Nelson.

I felt so seen. Here was someone who had burned out, awakened spiritually and intuitively , and found her way back to wholeness.

My path hasn’t been identical but it's been similar.

And one of her tools is one I want to share with you here because it made all the difference in how I began to view change and uncertainty.

It’s this:

Meeting the space of Not Knowing.

For most of my life, not knowing felt so scary!

I wanted to be prepared. Knowing. Clear.

Ironically, that desire for certainty was part of what drew me toward psychology and then psychic development in the first place. 😂

But here’s the truth:

You don’t access intuition by trying to grip it like water!

You access it by softening.

By staying open.

By listening

(And this has become one of the foundational steps in my Intuitive Writing Practice.)

When we open into what my intuition once called The Field of Potentiality — that unmanifest, spacious, aliveness, we reconnect with everything.

All is possible there.

But without direct experience, not knowing can feel intimidating.

Like stepping out a doorway into a void.

What I discovered was this:

When I entered Not Knowing,

It became a resting place.

A place of discovery.

Would you like to experience it for yourself?

Here it is:

A Gentle Practice: Connecting with Not Knowing

  • Take a few slow breaths — in through your nose, out through your mouth.

  • Let your awareness settle into your center.Your belly. Your chest. A quiet inner knowing.

  • Now, imagine or sense the space of Not Knowing.

  • It may feel like a vast sky.A landscape.A color.A hum. A temperature. Or nothing at all. All is well.

  • If it feels alright, stay for a while and relax here.

No solving.No searching. Just being.

  • When you’re ready, stretch and return.

  • Notice what’s different.

Martia also includes a beautiful step about connecting with yearning — but I’ll leave that for another time.

For now, this is simply a dip into what becomes available when we trust what’s within us… rather than trying to figure everything out.

This space , this generative opening, is where trust begins.

And it may be more welcoming than you think. 💛
