What Truly Makes You Happy? A Deck to Reimagine Joy

Discover a simple intuitive practice to update your “deck of happiness.” In this blog, I share how to identify old symbols of happiness, release what no longer serves you, and connect with what truly brings joy, fulfillment, and spiritual growth. This playful yet powerful exercise helps you tap into your intuition, clear old energy, and realign with your inner wisdom.


How often do we update what we think makes us happy?

Not often enough -- apparently for me!


And, since I asked, my spirit guides recently showed me a fun and powerful practice for shifting how we think about happiness.


For instance, today I craved cinnamon rolls.


In the past, they were linked to happy memories—like when my partner surprised me with some from a local baker in the cozy, artsy town of Nashville, IN. They were delicious, but after eating them, my teeth felt sticky.


What I really loved wasn’t the pastry—it was the love and thoughtfulness behind the gesture. The cinnamon rolls didn’t truly feel good to my body, but the love did. 💗


That realization led to this practice:


  1. Imagine (or create) a deck of happiness cards.

    If visualization feels difficult, grab some index cards or a notepad and make a physical deck. The cards don’t need to be perfect—they’re simply stand-ins for your symbols of happiness.

  1. On each card, write or draw something you've thought brings you joy.

    Often these “symbols of happiness” come from childhood or teenage years, but we forget to update them as we grow.


  1. Toss, burn, tear out, or clear the cards that no longer serve you.


  1. Keep the ones that truly light you up.


  2. Notice how this practice shifts your mood!


Often, our stories just need a little updating!
